Dorota Walczak-Delanois

Dorota Walczak-Delanois is a Full Professor and Head of the Chair of Polish Studies at the Free University of Brussels (Université libre de Bruxelles), Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communication. She has established herself as a leading scholar in Polish literature with a particular focus on 20th and 21st century poetry within comparative, cultural, and historical contexts.

Her research interests span Polish and Belgian poetry, literary translation (especially intersemiotic translation), avant-garde movements, feminist literary theory, and the relationship between poetry and visual arts. She has published extensively on Polish female poets, religious themes in contemporary poetry, and the evolution of poetic forms across different historical periods.

Professor Walczak-Delanois has authored significant monographs including 'Inne oblicze awangardy' (2001), 'Niedoczytani-nierozpoznani' (2016), and the bilingual 'Poetyckie podwojenie/Dédoublement poétique' (2020) on Marian Pankowski. Her scholarly work appears in numerous international journals such as 'Comparative Yearbook', 'Religions', and 'Russian Literature', with recent publications examining topics like Polish female poets and religion, Georges Rodenbach's Belle Époque journalism, and contemporary poetic modernity.

She served as editor-in-chief of the journal Slavica Bruxellensia (2008-2016) and was a member of the jury for the Wisława Szymborska Literary Prize (2016-2021). In 2021-2022, she held a Visiting Professor position at Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań, strengthening academic connections between Belgian and Polish institutions.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Professor Walczak-Delanois is also a practicing poet and painter, with creative works including 'L'abécédaire d'un coeur rebelle' (2018), demonstrating her integrated approach to literary scholarship and artistic creation.
