Prof. Dr. hab. Dorota Heck is a distinguished academic at the University of Wrocław, affiliated with the Institute of Polish Philology. She holds a professorship and has made significant contributions to literary criticism, history, and theory of literature. Her research focuses on literary anthropology, rhetoric, and Polish studies, with a particular emphasis on Polish essayism and the works of notable authors like Józef Mackiewicz and Stanisław Lem. She has authored over 270 scholarly publications and edited numerous volumes, including works on cultural interactions and chaos theory in literature. Heck has received multiple awards, including Rector's Awards from the University of Wrocław and a distinction from the Józef Mackiewicz Literary Award. She has also held visiting scholarships at Cambridge Colleges. Her academic journey includes a PhD under Wojciech Głowala and studies in classical philology.
