Dr Donnah Anderson is a Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Charles Sturt University (CSU), Port Macquarie. Her research bridges psychology, sociology, and education, focusing on children and young people’s rights, voice, and wellbeing. She has held roles at CSU since 2016 and previously at Southern Cross University's Centre for Children and Young People. Her work includes the EPIC project, exploring ethical practices to improve child safety in institutions, funded by the ARC (DP180100465). She teaches research methods, statistics, and psychology of learning at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Education: PhD (2012, University of New England) and a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (2020, Charles Sturt University).
Research interests include child safety policy, disaster recovery, and student participation in schools. Recent projects address therapeutic residential care, disaster-affected children’s wellbeing, and ethical practices in education. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and wellbeing.
Awards include the Australian College of Education World Teaching Award (2019) and the Peter Saunders Prize (2021). She supervises honors and master’s students, emphasizing statistics and research design.
Key collaborations involve the Royal Far West’s bushfire recovery programs and interdisciplinary teams analyzing child welfare policies. Her research outputs span 63 peer-reviewed articles, conference posters, and policy reports.
