Donna Washburn

Dr. Donna Washburn is an Assistant Professor at Regent University’s School of Nursing, part of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences. She serves as the DNP program interim director and has over 15 years of experience as an online nursing faculty instructor. As an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) specializing in oncology since 2006, her clinical and academic work focuses on improving cancer care through research, education, and ethical practice.

Her research emphasizes oncology patient medication adherence, FDA/DHH guideline implementation, and innovative treatments like convalescent plasma during the pandemic. She contributed to a case study on genetic profiling in oncology treatment and is authoring a chapter on cancer prevention in gerontology. Dr. Washburn has held board certifications from ANCC and ONCC, and serves on institutional review boards (IRB), ethics committees, and tumor boards.

Professional memberships include the Oncology Nursing Society and Sigma Theta Tau. Beyond academia, she volunteers in community healthcare initiatives and church ministries, integrating her Christian faith into holistic nursing practice.
