Donna M. Martin is a Professor of Pediatrics and Human Genetics at the University of Michigan School of Medicine. She is a board-certified clinical geneticist and serves as Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Martin is affiliated with the Taubman Institute, Precision Health Initiative, and Center for Cell Plasticity and Organ Design.
- Ravitz Foundation Endowed Professorship in Pediatrics
Dr. Martin's research focuses on developmental disorders affecting the nervous system, particularly CHARGE syndrome, which causes congenital heart defects, deafblindness, and developmental delays. Her work explores gene regulatory networks, chromatin remodeling, and molecular mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental conditions, autism, and sensory impairments.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding KIF5C variants, CHD7-related pathologies, and chromatin regulation in sensory and neurological development. Key themes include pediatric oncology, genetic variant reinterpretation, and translational approaches to developmental medicine.
- Ravitz Foundation Endowed Professorship in Pediatrics
Dr. Martin mentors students and researchers in pediatric genetics, with a focus on clinical-translational collaboration. Her lab investigates genetic causes of developmental disorders, including roles in photoreceptor biology and semicircular canal formation.
