Donna Lovelock is a LifeLab Teaching Fellow at the Southampton Education School, University of Southampton. She specialises in adolescent health, health literacy, and behavior change, focusing on preventing non-communicable diseases. Her work involves the LifeLab initiative, an educational intervention that connects adolescents with scientific research to improve health decision-making. She teaches students aged 11-16, emphasizing practical science and health-related demonstrations.
Education: Completed undergraduate degree and PGCE at the University of Southampton. Professional Experience: 7 years teaching secondary science in Hampshire schools, including roles as Second in Science KS3 Co-ordinator and participation in OFSTED inspections. Leadership: Completed a Middle Leaders project on assessment impacts on pupil progress.
Research: Current projects include evaluating LifeLab’s impact on science and health literacy, and assessing saliva-based testing programs. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams across medicine, education, and public health. Awards: Received Vice-Chancellor's Award for Public Good (2021) and Hygeia Centre for Excellence (2019).
