Donna Haverty-Stacke is a Professor and Chair in the Department of History at Hunter College, CUNY. She specializes in U.S. cultural, urban, and labor history with a focus on radical political culture, gender studies, and carceral systems. Her research examines intersections of labor movements, political persecution, and gendered power dynamics.

Her recent research includes a book project on the Federal Industrial Reformatory for Women at Alderson, WV, exploring coerced labor and women political prisoners. She co-directed the Labor and Working-Class History Seminar at Roosevelt House (2013–2018) and has presented at major conferences including the American Historical Association and Organization of American Historians.
Publications Trends: Haverty-Stacke’s work bridges labor history with legal and gender studies. Recent articles focus on carceral regimes, political prisoners, and intersections of civil liberties with radical movements. She has authored/co-edited books on May Day nationalism, Trotskyist trials, and socialist feminism.
Current Projects: Investigating the gendered dynamics of incarceration at Alderson Prison, emphasizing survival strategies and labor exploitation among women political prisoners (1914–1960).
