Dongni Wan

Dongni Wan is a Lecturer IV in the Department of Economics and a Lecturer I at the Ross School of Business, both at the University of Michigan. She has held these positions since September 2018. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at Missouri Western State University's Craig School of Business from January 2017 to July 2018. Her academic background includes a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management and Strategic Management from the University of Kansas, along with an M.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Economics from Bryant University and the University of Kansas, respectively.

Research Interests:

With a dual background in economics and management, Dr. Wan's research focuses on the intersection of labor economics and strategic management. Her work explores topics such as human capital specificity, the impact of financial crises on human capital investment, efficiency wage hypothesis and its relation to employee pay satisfaction, employee ownership's influence on firm performance, performance-based pay and creative performance, and the strategic role of HR departments in multinational contexts. She also investigates Upper Echelon Theory and executive turnover dynamics, as well as compensation strategies in global business environments.
