Dr. Donglei "Emma" Fan is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin, affiliated with the Materials Science and Engineering Program and the Texas Materials Institute. She holds the Robert & Jane Mitchell Endowed Faculty Fellowship in Engineering. Her research focuses on micro/nano-scale materials fabrication, robotics, biomedical engineering, and clean energy, with notable contributions to electric tweezers, light-responsive micromotors, and water treatment technologies. Fan has received prestigious awards including the NSF Mid-Career and CAREER Awards, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and AIMBE.
