معرفی
Donald Scott Stewart is a Research Professor and Shao Lee Soo Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, affiliated with the Grainger College of Engineering and the Department of Mechanical Science & Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical and Applied Science from Cornell University (1981) and a B.S. in Engineering Science from SUNY Buffalo (1976).
His research focuses on combustion, detonation, and shock physics of energetic materials, with emphasis on computational modeling of complex flows and microstructural energy dynamics. He has held roles such as Director of the Florida Institute for Research in Energetics and Courtesy Professor at the University of Florida. Stewart’s contributions include advancing ignition transient models for explosives and developing optical probe experiments for shock ignition analysis.
Key honors include the National Academies Fellowship (2007-08), Shao Lee Soo Professorship (2008–present), and multiple teaching/advising awards. His work bridges theoretical models with experimental validation, aiming to improve sub-models for explosive interactions.
