Don Ryan is an Undergraduate Lecturer of Ceramics and Director of the Creative Arts Program at Soka University. Born in Newport Beach, California, he has been active in ceramics for over 40 years. He holds an MFA from UCLA (1988) and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute (1985).
His research focuses on integrating 3D printing technology with traditional materials like clay, resin, and plastic to create innovative sculptures. He teaches courses such as Beginning Ceramics, Advanced Ceramics, and Raku: Art and Process, alongside leading the Creative Arts Forum and coordinating the Primitive Pottery Learning Cluster.
As Director of Creative Arts, Ryan oversees interdisciplinary creative initiatives at Soka University. His work bridges digital innovation and tactile artistry, reflecting a commitment to evolving contemporary ceramic practices.
