Don Lyon serves as Clinical Professor and Director of the Concussion Care Service at Indiana University School of Optometry (IUSO) since 2000, based at the Indianapolis Eye Care Center where he provides advanced vision care for mild traumatic brain injury patients.
His educational credentials include a Doctor of Optometry (1999), Pediatric Optometry Residency (2000), and Master of Science in Clinical Research from Indiana University School of Medicine (2010).

Dr. Lyon's research focuses on binocular vision disorders, pediatric vision rehabilitation, and post-concussion vision symptoms. As local principal investigator for the Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group (PEDIG), he leads national clinical trials on amblyopia treatment while collaborating on neuro-optometric rehabilitation studies. His work bridges clinical practice with global health initiatives through the Vision for the Future program operating in Indiana and Rwanda.
He co-coordinates the vision rehabilitation residency program and founded Vision for the Future in 2015 to improve children's vision care access worldwide. Dr. Lyon has trained optometrists globally in developing advocacy programs for vision care affordability, leveraging his international lectureship on concussion management and pediatric optometry.
His clinical leadership spans the Concussion Care Service and Vision for the Future initiatives, with ongoing collaborations through PEDIG advancing evidence-based treatments for childhood vision disorders.
