Don Belcher

Dr. Don Belcher serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Health and Human Performance within Middle Tennessee State University's College of Behavioral and Health Sciences, holding dual administrative roles as Undergraduate and Graduate Program Coordinator and Graduate Director for Health and Human Performance programs.

His educational background includes:

• PhD from Louisiana State University (2000)
• MS from University of Wyoming (1994)
• BED from University of Saskatchewan (1989)

Dr. Belcher's research centers on physical education teacher education with specialized focus on gender-race intersections, curriculum design, and perceived competence development in educational settings. His work examines how sociocultural factors influence teaching methodologies and student self-assessment in physical activity contexts.

As Graduate Director, he oversees the PhD in Human Performance (with Physical Education and Public Health concentrations) and MPH in Public Health programs. Despite his administrative leadership, the institution notes no external funding experience for research grants. Office hours are maintained Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00-11:00 AM in Murphy Center Room 115 during Fall 2025 semester.
