Professor Dominik Weiss is a Professor of Environmental Geochemistry at Imperial College London's Faculty of Engineering, Department of Earth Science & Engineering. His affiliations include the Grantham Institute, London Centre for Ore Deposits and Exploration, and the MAGIC consortium. His research focuses on trace metal geochemistry, global biogeochemical cycles, and aqueous chemical processes in natural/engineered systems. Key societal applications include pollution mitigation, climate change, and sustainable resource management. His group employs fieldwork, lab experiments, and modeling to address challenges in waste/water management and environmental health.
Research interests span metal isotope systems, engineered solutions for pollution, and interdisciplinary approaches combining geochemistry with analytical techniques. Recent work emphasizes zinc bioavailability in rice, arsenic remediation via photocatalysts, and paleoclimatic indicators like greigite. He is also involved in developing educational tools for geochemical modeling (e.g., PHREEQC).
Publications from 2023-2025 highlight innovations in isotope tracing (e.g., Zn, Cu), novel ligands for metal remediation, and mechanistic insights into adsorption processes. His work bridges fundamental geochemistry with real-world applications in agriculture, environmental engineering, and public health.
