Prof. Dominik Hangartner is a Full Professor in the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences at ETH Zurich, specializing in migration policy, political behavior, and public policy evaluation. He leads the Professur für Politikanalyse and is affiliated with the Center for Comparative and International Studies (CIS). His research focuses on the integration of immigrants/refugees, the impact of migration policies, and methodological innovations in social science research.
Key research interests include: refugee integration mechanisms, electoral behavior responses to migration crises, and causal inference techniques. He has conducted field experiments on policy interventions (e.g., language training, naturalization processes) and pioneered methodological work on survey attrition reduction and judicial decision-making analysis.
Notable contributions address how migration affects political attitudes, economic outcomes of displaced populations, and institutional responses to humanitarian crises. His work frequently combines quantitative methods with policy-relevant questions, often using Switzerland as a case study while maintaining global relevance.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on quantitative methods (Methods II: Quantitative Methods) and specialized topics like international migration policy (Topics in Public Policy: The Politics and Policies of International Migration).
