Prof. Dr. Dominik Endres serves as University Professor and Head of the Theoretical Cognitive Science working group within the Department of General and Biological Psychology at Philipps University of Marburg's Faculty of Psychology.
His research focuses on cardinal mechanisms of perception including prediction, evaluation, and categorization. The working group investigates how these cognitive processes operate and interact in human perception and decision-making, with particular emphasis on theoretical modeling of cognitive functions. Their work bridges psychology, neuroscience, and computational modeling to understand fundamental aspects of human cognition.
Professor Endres leads an active research team comprising doctoral students, research associates, and scientific staff who collaborate on various projects related to theoretical cognitive science. The group maintains strong connections with multiple research associations including the Central German Mental Health Center, the International Research Training Group (IRTG) 1901 "The Brain in Action", GRK 2271 "Breaking Expectations", and SFB/TRR 289 "Treatment Expectation".
Among his current doctoral students is Moritz Schubert, who works within the Theoretical Cognitive Science group. The team receives research funding through various collaborative projects and contributes to the academic mission of the university through teaching and supervision of student theses.
The working group is housed in the Institute Building at Gutenbergstraße 18 in Marburg, where Professor Endres maintains his office and laboratory facilities for cognitive science research.
