Dominic Forest is a Full Professor at the École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l'information (School of Library and Information Studies) within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Université de Montréal. His research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to text data analysis, digital humanities, numerical edition, and web technologies. He holds a PhD in Computer Science (2006), a Master's in Philosophy (2002), and a Bachelor's in Philosophy (1999), all from Université du Québec à Montréal.
Research interests include text mining, information visualization, and the integration of computational methods in humanities research. He leads or co-leads multiple projects, such as the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur les humanités numériques (CRIHN, 2024–2028) and the Digital Humanities Summer Institute 2025. His work bridges computer science with humanities, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration.
Dr. Forest has advised numerous graduate students, including Marcela Carvalho Baiocchi and Aline Crédeville (PhD), and has contributed to initiatives like the 'Intelligence Artificielle Littéraire' (IAL) project analyzing ancient texts. He is affiliated with key research networks and has secured grants from organizations like the FRQSC and SSHRC.
His teaching includes courses on digital humanities, AI-driven text analysis, and web information systems. He actively participates in advancing research methodologies in library and information science, emphasizing digital innovation in academic and cultural sectors.
