Domenico Orlando

Professor Domenico Orlando serves as Professor of Oboe at the University of Music Würzburg, a position he assumed in the winter semester 2021/22. He maintains a dual career as both a distinguished academic and principal oboist of the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig since 2009.

His research and performance interests focus on Oboe Performance, Orchestral Music, Chamber Music, and Woodwind Instrument Pedagogy. Orlando has established himself as a leading figure in the international music scene through both his performing and teaching activities.

Professor Orlando has received significant recognition through prestigious competitions including the Tomassini di Petritoli Competition and the Tokyo International Competition. His performance career has taken him to renowned venues such as La Scala in Milan and the Academia di Santa Cecilia.

He actively contributes to music education through regular masterclasses conducted internationally in Italy, Great Britain, Spain, and Japan, demonstrating his commitment to developing the next generation of musicians.
