Prof. Dr. Doğan ERBAHAR is a Professor in the Mechanical Engineering (English) department at Dogus University's Faculty of Engineering. His academic journey includes a B.Sc. in Physics from Boğaziçi University, M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Physics from Gebze Yüksek Teknoloji Enstitüsü. He has conducted postdoctoral research at Michigan State University and CNRS's IMN Institute in France. Since 2018, he has been affiliated with Dogus University.
His research focuses on computational physics, carbon nanomaterials, molecular dynamics simulations, and DFT calculations. Notable contributions include studies on graphene, superconductivity in C₆₀ nanoarrays, and the development of fluorescent sensors for ion detection. He co-authored the book Nanoscale Materials for Warfare Agent Detection: Nanoscience for Security (Springer, 2019) and has supervised two doctoral/master's theses: 'Fullerenes in the origin of life' and 'Machine learning methods in analyzing 2D nanostructures'.
His publications span journals like Physical Review B, Computational Materials Science, and Carbon, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches in materials science.
