معرفی
Dr. Dmitri Mauquoy is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Geosciences, University of Aberdeen. His research focuses on palaeoecological studies using peat bog deposits to understand long-term environmental changes driven by climate and human impacts.
- B.Sc. Geography (1993), University of Newcastle Upon Tyne
- Ph.D. Palaeoclimatic Signal from Peat Stratigraphy (1997), University of Southampton
Research Interests: Specializes in peatland carbon sequestration, climate change reconstructions, and testate amoebae analysis. Key areas include Holocene environmental dynamics, fire history, and peatland restoration strategies.
Collaborations: Works with international scholars across France (Ecolab-CNRS), USA (Lehigh University), Netherlands (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), and Argentina (CADIC-CONICET). Current projects examine Falkland Island peatlands as analogues for future Northern Hemisphere systems.
- 2021-2023: Leverhulme Trust Grant (£228,832) for Falkland Islands peatland studies
- 2011-2014: NERC Standard Grant (£791,376) for Tierra del Fuego research
Scientific Contributions: Developed advanced age/depth modelling techniques for peat stratigraphy. Pioneered plant macrofossil and testate amoebae analyses for environmental reconstructions across Europe, Canada, South America, and sub-Antarctic regions.
