Professor Dirk Uhrlandt serves as Chair of High Voltage and High Current Technology at the Institute of Electrical Power Engineering, University of Rostock, and holds dual leadership roles at the Leibniz Institute for Plasma Science and Technology (INP Greifswald) as Member of the Board of Directors and Head of the Plasma Chemistry and Process Engineering Research Department.
His research spans critical plasma engineering domains with emphasis on:
- Switching arcs and circuit breaker technology
- Insulation systems for high-voltage applications
- Welding arc dynamics
- Optical and spectroscopic plasma diagnostics
- Kinetic modeling and magneto-hydrodynamic simulation
As an active German Physical Society (DPG) member, Uhrlandt teaches core courses including Introduction to high-voltage and high-current technology and High voltage and current systems, bridging theoretical plasma science with electrical power engineering applications.
