Dirk Paul Mielke is an Adjunct Professor specializing in Hittite archaeology and Ancient Near Eastern studies at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Tübingen. He has held academic positions at institutions including the University of Münster and the German Archaeological Institute. His research focuses on Hittite urban structures, pottery analysis, and fortification studies. Mielke has led excavations at sites like Oymaağaç Höyük/Nerik and Kuşaklı, contributing significantly to understanding Hittite material culture and settlement patterns.
Education: Studied Prehistory and Hittitology at Ruhr University Bochum (1989–1997), earned his MA and PhD at Philipps University Marburg, and completed his Habilitation at the University of Münster.
