Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Nüßler is a Professor and Head of the Chair of Integrated High-Frequency Sensors at Ruhr University Bochum's Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. He currently serves as Deputy Director of the FHR Institute and leads the Integrated Circuits and Sensor Systems (ISS) department. His roles include network coordinator for projects like terahertz.NRW, T-KOS, and 6GEM, and project manager for initiatives such as Waste4Future. He represents FHR in the Fraunhofer Vision Division and European Machine Vision Association (EMVA).
His academic journey includes a doctorate (2017) from TU Hamburg-Harburg on Rotman lenses in millimeter-wave ranges and a diploma in communications engineering from the University of Siegen (1994). Prior roles include Group Leader for Industrial Metrology (2009–2017), Business Unit Spokesperson Production (2008–2018), and research positions at FGAN e.V. and the Max Planck Institute.
Key research focuses on high-frequency sensor technologies, terahertz systems, and applications in 6G and industrial metrology. He oversees collaborations with institutions like the Research Fab Microelectronics Germany (FMD) and leads projects addressing advanced sensor integration and terahertz applications.
