Dirk Hovorka

Dirk Hovorka is a Professor of Systems and Design at the University of Sydney Business School. He holds an MS in Geology, an MS in Interdisciplinary Telecommunications, and a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Colorado. His research focuses on speculative approaches to understanding technology, societal change, and future states. Current projects explore future studies, speculation in science, and philosophy of technology.

Recent publications (2020-2025) address speculative foresight, digital transformation, and metrics' impact on academia. He advises six PhD students focusing on topics like AI adoption in healthcare and context-aware digital inequality.
