Dr. Dior Konate is a full-tenured Professor of History and the Academic Program Coordinator for the History Program at South Carolina State University. She has been at the institution for 16 years, having served as an assistant and associate professor before her promotion to full professor in 2019.
Her educational background includes:

Dr. Konate's research centers on colonial justice, prisons, and criminality in colonial Senegal, with a focus on capital punishment, female juvenile delinquency, and women's roles in prisons and politics in Africa. She also explores broader contexts of Sub-Saharan Africa, West Africa, and the African Diaspora.
She has received two National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grants: one in 2012 for her first book, published in 2018, and another in 2020 for her second book currently in progress. Dr. Konate teaches courses including History of World Civilizations Since 1750, African Women's History, and the History of Africa.
