Dion Curry serves as Associate Professor of Politics and Public Policy at Swansea University's School of Social Sciences within the Department of Politics, Philosophy and International Relations, where he joined in 2014 after appointments at Erasmus University Rotterdam and policy consultancy work for the European Commission in Vilnius, Lithuania. He currently holds dual leadership roles as Research Lead for the School of Social Sciences and programme director for the MA Public Policy.
His academic foundation includes:
- PhD from the University of Sheffield examining multi-level governance impacts on public service delivery in Scotland and British Columbia, Canada
Curry's research critically analyzes political legitimacy formation through trust mechanisms involving experts, the public, and governmental institutions. His work extends to disruptive technologies' governance implications, with concentrated focus on blockchain applications. Current investigations include citizens' perceptions of expert trust (collaborating with Dr. Gabriela Jiga-Boy and Dr. Louis Bromfield) and political trust dynamics in technological disruption contexts.
As School Research Lead, he drives strategic research development across social sciences disciplines while directing the MA Public Policy programme to cultivate next-generation policy professionals. His operational base remains Swansea University's Department of Politics, Philosophy and International Relations where he maintains active teaching and research responsibilities.
