Dr. Dinesh Pashankar is a Professor of Pediatrics (Gastroenterology) at Yale School of Medicine and serves as Regional Director of Ambulatory Services at Yale Medicine and Director of the Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Program. He completed his medical training in India and the UK, followed by a Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship in Vancouver, Canada, and earned an MBA in healthcare from Yale School of Management. His clinical and research focus is on pediatric IBD, quality improvement, and healthcare optimization.
He leads a multidisciplinary IBD clinic at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital and has implemented impactful administrative initiatives, such as the Yale Clinical Optimization Service, improving patient workflows, revenue, and satisfaction. Currently oversees 40 Yale Medicine clinics across multiple regions. Research interests include IBD treatment efficacy, anti-TNF therapy, and the role of obesity in pediatric gastrointestinal disorders.
Key achievements include pioneering electronic consultation programs, reducing treatment failure risks in IBD through biomarker analysis, and receiving the 2016 International Achievement Award. His work bridges clinical care innovation with rigorous scientific inquiry.
