Dimitrios Raptopoulos is a Professor and Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the European University of Cyprus (EUC). He holds a Veterinary Degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1969) and a PhD in Veterinary Science (1976), followed by specialized diplomas in Veterinary Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (1978) and the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA, 1995). His career spans five decades with key roles including:
- Dean of Veterinary School, University of Thessaloniki (2003-2007)
- President of ECVAA (1995-2011)
- CEO of EBVS (2013-2018)
- Member of University Senate and Research Committees
His research focuses on optimizing anaesthetic protocols to reduce surgical complications like gastro-oesophageal reflux in canines/cats, and advancing pain management strategies. He has pioneered minimally invasive monitoring techniques in veterinary anaesthesia. Awards include the EBVS Outstanding Contribution Award (2020), Honorary Memberships in AVA and ECVAA, and Emeritus Professor status from Aristotle University.
He contributed to developing ECVAA's training and credentialing systems, and served on international editorial committees. His work integrates academic leadership with clinical innovation in veterinary critical care and surgical anaesthesia.
