Dr Dimitra Tsakalou is a Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport, affiliated with the Institute for Education, Teaching & Leadership (IETL). Her roles include teaching on Initial Teacher Education courses for MA Primary and MA Physical Education programs, including Educational Studies modules (1a, 1b, 2a, 2b). She holds a PhD in Education from the University of Edinburgh, following a first-class degree in Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology, and an MSc in Inclusive and Special Education. Previously, she taught Greek Classics and as a special education teacher, and worked at Manchester Metropolitan University as an associate lecturer.
Her research focuses on inclusive education, exploring teachers' attitudes toward inclusion, institutional identity, and the social construction of educational communities. She employs qualitative methods, particularly case studies, to analyze policy impacts and stakeholder narratives in Greece and globally. Recent work examines how schools' layered narratives shape inclusion efforts.
