Dilusha Silva

Dilusha Silva is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Western Australia (UWA), within the School of Engineering. His expertise spans MEMS, photonics, and biomedical imaging, with contributions to optical coherence tomography (OCT) and infrared sensing technologies. He holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering (UWA, 2004), an Honours BE in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (UWA, 1997), and an Honours BSc in Physics (UWA, 1995).

Research focuses on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), infrared filters, and biomedical applications of OCT. He has led projects in defense-related optical systems, magnetic sensors, and agricultural imaging. Over 117 publications and 20 grants highlight his work, including collaborations in thermal imaging, MEMS-based photonic switches, and cardiovascular disease biomarkers.

Key research areas include MEMS for multispectral imaging, adaptive infrared filters, and non-invasive diagnostics. His lab develops technologies for defense, healthcare, and agriculture, with industry experience at MRX Technologies (2006–2009).
