معرفی
Professor Dietmar Müller is a Professor of Geophysics at the School of Geosciences, University of Sydney, within the Faculty of Science. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science (FAA) and Australian Geoscience Council (FAGU), and a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher. His work focuses on tectonic reconstructions, geodynamic modeling, and the interplay between tectonics and climate. Müller established the EarthByte research group and the Marine Studies Institute, and led major projects like the ARC Basin GENESIS Hub and the industry-driven STELLAR initiative.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel (Germany)
- PhD in Earth Science (1993) from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego
Research Interests: Müller’s research integrates computational geophysics, tectonic plate modeling, and paleoclimate studies. He explores how tectonic processes shape Earth’s surface, climate, and resource distribution. Key themes include mantle dynamics, continental evolution, and carbon cycle interactions over geological time.
Grants & Projects:
- ARC Laureate Fellowship (2009–2014)
- LE180100206: Basin GENESIS Hub (2015–2021)
- Industry partnership STELLAR (2021–2024) with BHP
- 2023 ARC Linkage Project on digital deep-time exploration tools
Awards & Affiliations:
- Member, Sydney Southeast Asia Centre
- Member, The Net Zero Institute
- Recipient of ARC grants totaling over AUD 40M
Labs & Teams: The EarthByte Group, a global leader in computational geodynamics, develops open-source tools like GPlates for 3D tectonic reconstructions. The group collaborates internationally on projects such as dynamic paleogeography modeling and critical mineral exploration.
