Dr. Dieter VANWALLEGHEM is an Assistant Professor in the Finance & Accounting department at Rennes School of Business, France. He holds a PhD in Finance from the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), an MSc in Financial Economics from the University of Oxford, and a MA in Applied Economics from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. His research focuses on social finance, impact investing, corporate social responsibility, and banking dynamics in emerging markets. He currently serves as Academic iMBA Director at Rennes School of Business and has held roles as a Teaching Assistant at Wharton and a voluntary researcher at the University of Antwerp.
His work explores institutional determinants in cross-border mergers & acquisitions, SME financing behaviors, and sustainable investment choices. He has been recognized with awards like the Dean’s List Award (Oxford) and fellowships from Wharton and the Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz Foundation. His research spans global banking strategies, environmental policy impacts on M&A, and functional distance in foreign lending.
