Dieter Schäfer

Dr. Dieter Schäfer is a researcher affiliated with the Institute of Archaeology at the University of Innsbruck, with a career spanning over three decades in prehistoric and early historical archaeology. His work focuses on interdisciplinary high mountain archaeology, Quaternary ecology, and the technological analysis of Paleolithic stone artifacts.

He has conducted teaching activities at the University of Halle, University of Vienna, and University of Innsbruck since 1999, covering prehistoric human-environment relationships and Quaternary ecology. His contributions include habilitation-level academic qualifications and collaborations across multiple institutions.
