Dieter Rink is a Professor and Deputy Head of Department at the Department of Urban and Environmental Sociology at the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany. He holds honorary professorships at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Mittweida and Universität Leipzig's Cultural Studies department. His expertise spans sustainable urban development, urban governance, housing policy, and urban ecology. He has conducted extensive research on urban shrinkage dynamics, post-socialist urban transformation, and green urbanization strategies.
