Dr. Dieter Ries serves as Junior Professor for Neutron Physics at the Institute of Nuclear Chemistry, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 2017. His research program centers on precision measurements using ultracold neutrons to explore fundamental physics questions.
His primary research interests include:
- Ultracold Neutron Physics
- Neutron Lifetime Measurements
- Electric Dipole Moment Research
- Neutron Decay Correlation Studies
- Development of Neutron Sources
- Precision Measurement Techniques
Dr. Ries leads multiple significant experimental projects including the τ SPECT lifetime experiment, the n2edm neutron electric dipole moment experiment, the BRAND experiment for measuring neutron decay correlations, and development of high-intensity ultracold neutron sources. His work contributes to testing the Standard Model of particle physics and searching for new physics phenomena.
