Prof. Dr. Dieter Dörr is a Research Professor at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, affiliated with the Faculty of Law and Economics. He previously held the Chair of Public Law, International and European Law, and Media Law from 1995–2017, served as Director of the Mainz Media Institute (2000–2018), and was a Senior Research Professor until 2020. His expertise spans media law, constitutional law, and European law, with a focus on media convergence and indigenous rights.
- Educations: Doctorate in Law (1983), Habilitation (1987) at University of Cologne
Research Interests: Prof. Dörr’s work addresses national and international media law frameworks, digitalization impacts on media, and legal aspects of media diversity. He co-edits the Studies on German and European Media Law and Res Publica series, contributing to interdisciplinary analyses of media convergence and public law.
- Key Roles: Part-time judge at Koblenz Higher Regional Court (2003–2017), Chairman of the KEK media concentration commission (2005–2007), and spokesperson for the Gutenberg Academy (2001–2011).
