Diep Phan is a Professor of Economics and Business at Beloit College and the Director of the School of Business. She holds a B.A. in Economics from Macalester College and a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Phan teaches courses such as Principles of Economics, Economics of Globalization, and Asian Economies. Her research focuses on globalization, economic development in developing nations, and the economies of East and Southeast Asia. She is known for integrating global perspectives into her teaching, mentoring students in business careers, and supporting entrepreneurial ventures.
Dr. Phan played a pivotal role in launching Beloit College’s interdisciplinary Data Science & Data Analytics program in 2020 and became the founding director of the School of Business in 2023. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and global education. She has lived in the U.S. for over two decades but maintains strong ties to her Hanoi, Vietnam roots, enriching campus diversity with her multicultural background.
Her professional narrative includes advising students across marketing, consulting, finance, and accounting, as well as fostering community engagement through her leadership roles. She currently resides in Beloit with her family, actively contributing to the college’s vibrant community.
