Diane Richardson

Diane Richardson is an Assistant Professor of German at the University of Delaware's College of Arts & Sciences, within the Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department. She holds a PhD in Transcultural German Studies from the University of Arizona and University of Leipzig, an MA in German Studies from Dresden University of Technology, and a BA in Intercultural European & American Studies from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Her research focuses on Second Language Acquisition, Linguistic Landscapes, and innovative pedagogical approaches such as integrating digital gaming and empathy-building through art in language education. She has extensive teaching experience across institutions in the US and Germany, including the US Military Academy at West Point and the German Immersion Summer School at Middlebury College. Diane has also developed and directed faculty-led study abroad programs in Munich and Leipzig.
