Diane Kratt serves as Assistant Dean for Enrollment and Student Services in the College of Education at Florida Gulf Coast University, where she has been faculty since 2008 after 20 years as a K-12 educator. Her administrative role focuses on student teaching coordination and foundational education courses.
Her research centers on school mental health with emphasis on teacher mental health competencies, student teacher well-being, and classroom management strategies. Key interests include child development, gifted education, and study abroad programs in teacher preparation. She founded a decade-long Children's Mental Health Conference and now integrates mental health training directly into teacher education curricula.
Dr. Kratt's scholarly work analyzes mental health barriers for pre-service teachers through qualitative methodologies, revealing systemic challenges in teacher education programs. Her publications examine anxiety as an academic barrier, educator mental health competencies, and lived experiences of student teachers with mental health conditions.
