Diane E. Mahoney

Diane E. Mahoney is an Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She specializes in female cancers, cancer disparities, and precision health, with a focus on ovarian cancer and biomarker discovery.

• Education: BSN & MSN from University of Kansas; DNP & PhD in Nursing from University of Missouri-Kansas City.
• Certifications: Board Certified Family Practice Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC), Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP-BC), and certified in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Her research integrates symptom science, gynecologic oncology, and microbiome analysis to improve early ovarian cancer detection. She is funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (P20 GM130423) to study plasma microbiota biosignatures. Her recent publications highlight trends in microbiome data analysis, cancer disparities, and symptom cluster identification for precision diagnostics.
