Diane Aymard is an Associate Lecturer at the National School of Architecture of Paris-Malaquais and a researcher with the CRENAU team at the AAU Laboratory. She is affiliated with a Joint Research Unit (UMR) involving CNRS, Université Grenoble Alpes, and several National Schools of Architecture. Her work bridges academic research, cultural development in architecture, and curation at the City of Architecture and Heritage.
Diane Aymard's research focuses on the history of architecture with particular attention to cultural hybridization, decolonial perspectives, and environmental considerations. Her work examines how architectural practices and pedagogies have evolved through cross-cultural interactions, as evidenced by her studies of the 'oriental city' program (1981-1987) and architectural practice in Guadeloupe. She investigates the role of archives in understanding architectural history and the transformation of architectural education after 1968.
Her recent publications demonstrate a consistent focus on the intersections between architectural practice, cultural exchange, and historical context. Aymard's work often analyzes how architectural education and professional practice have been shaped by cross-cultural encounters and historical circumstances, with particular attention to post-1968 developments in the field.
Diane Aymard is actively involved with the CRENAU research team which manages several important research platforms including the UClim Urban Climates Platform and the CORAULIS VR Platform. Through her position at the National School of Architecture of Paris-Malaquais and her research activities, she contributes to both the academic and practical dimensions of architectural education and practice.
