Professor Diamond Ashiagbor is a Professor of Law and holder of the 125th Anniversary Chair at the University of Birmingham’s Birmingham Law School. Her interdisciplinary research bridges labour law, EU/African Union regionalism, trade, human rights, and colonialism. She joined Birmingham in May 2025 after roles at institutions like the University of Kent and SOAS. A socio-legal scholar, she explores the intersections of law with governance, economics, and colonial legacies.

Research Focus: Professor Ashiagbor’s work examines labour law through a socio-legal lens, analyzing colonial legacies in legal frameworks. Her current project, funded by the British Academy/Leverhulme Trust, re-examines labour law’s historical ties to race and colonialism. She has published widely on EU social integration, labour precarity, and global economic governance.
