Di Fang is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Duke University's Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, with a secondary affiliation to the Duke Quantum Center. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2019 and previously held positions as a Morrey Visiting Assistant Professor at UC Berkeley and Simons Quantum Postdoctoral Fellow at the Simons Institute.
Research Focus: His mathematical expertise lies in numerical analysis of partial differential equations with current emphasis on:
- Quantum computing theory and algorithm development
- Classical and quantum approaches to quantum system simulation
- Hamiltonian simulation involving unbounded operators
- Time-dependent oscillatory dynamics and superconvergence phenomena
- Error analysis for quantum-classical molecular dynamics
