Devra I. Jarvis is an Adjunct Professor at Washington State University's Department of Crop and Soil Sciences within the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences. She is a core researcher and founder of the Raffaella Foundation, which focuses on promoting social and environmental diversity through agrobiodiversity research, cross-sectorial partnerships, and community-led initiatives.
Her research spans agricultural biodiversity, climate change adaptation, and sustainable systems. She works with global partners in Uganda, Mexico, China, Morocco, and Vietnam, emphasizing farmer communities' roles in conserving crop diversity, seed systems, and traditional knowledge. She co-authored studies on Tartary buckwheat, maize diversity, peanut nutrition, and ecosystem services in agroecological contexts.
The Raffaella Foundation, where Jarvis is based, hosts unincorporated networks and provides grants for pro-poor agrobiodiversity interventions. Current projects include collaborations with the PROINPA Foundation (Bolivia), Plant Resources Center Vietnam, and FAO to address climate change and equity through biodiversity. The foundation also supports training, DATAR tool development, and global forums on agroforestry and biocultural heritage.
