Dr. Devin Penner is an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Trent/Swansea Law & Arts/Business Dual Degree at Trent University's Political Studies department. He holds a B.A. from the University of Winnipeg and an M.A./Ph.D. from York University, all in Political Science.
His research centers on three interconnected domains:
- Canadian Politics: Analyzing institutional dynamics (e.g., Senate reform) and federal-provincial power.
- Political Economy: Investigating philanthropy's role in Canadian society.
- Political Theory: Specializing in radical democracy, critical theory (notably Guy Debord's 'spectacle' concept), and utopian thought.
Dr. Penner teaches courses spanning political theory, public policy, and constitutional law. He also translates French political philosophy, contributing to transnational scholarly dialogue.
