Devin Kwasniok is a Researcher at the Department of Management of Social Services, University of Vechta, specializing in digital solutions for elderly care and behavioral economics. Since 2020, he has led field research in the ActiVAtE project tracking diabetic patient behaviors and co-developed the award-winning ViVerA initiative for virtual nursing home events.
His educational background includes:
- Bachelor in Gerontology (University of Vechta, 2018)
- Master in Management of Social Services (University of Vechta, 2020)
Research focuses on applying behavioral economics to gerontology, with core interests in incentive design for volunteer work, intergenerational digital exchange, and accessibility solutions for seniors. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical implementations like virtual music cafés and digital learning tandems.
Recent publications (2021-2024) reveal three dominant trends: virtual event efficacy in elderly care (43% of output), behavioral interventions for health management (33%), and digital participation frameworks (24%). Key subfields include intergenerational volunteering mechanics, activity tracking analytics, and pandemic-era digital adaptation strategies.
Scientific recognition includes:
- Goldener Internetpreis 2021 for digital participation innovation
- BMBF Ideenpreis in Gesellschaft der Ideen competition
- Special-category Goldener Internetpreis for pandemic response
He directs multiple funded projects including ActiVAtE (diabetic behavior tracking), BMUV's digital accessibility initiative, and Digital-Kompass service-learning modules. Collaborating with Prof. Mertins and Leisen, his team tests virtual events across German nursing homes while training students in digital solution development.
As lead developer of ViVerA, he coordinates virtual music quizzes, digital learning tandems, and tele-sprechstunden that engage 200+ seniors monthly. The project's evidence-based approach has established new standards for intergenerational digital interaction in elderly care facilities nationwide.
