Devin Heyward, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and Urban Studies at Saint Peter’s University, where she also serves as Director of Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her research explores racial identity development, genetic ancestry testing, and intersectional approaches to social issues.
- Education: Ph.D., M.Phil., and M.A. from The Graduate Center-CUNY; B.A. from Hunter College (CUNY).
- Research Interests: Lifespan racial identity dynamics, HIV prevention for marginalized communities, participatory research with incarcerated populations, and international children’s rights projects in Uganda and Peru.
- Teaching Experience: Previously taught courses at The City College of New York, Lehman College, Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY), and SUNY Empire State College, covering topics like Psychology and the Black Experience, Health Psychology, and pedagogy for diverse learners.
