Dev Niyogi is a Professor and William Stamps Farish Chair at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), affiliated with the Jackson School of Geosciences and Cockrell School of Engineering. He leads the TExUS Lab and UT-City CoLab, focusing on extreme weather prediction, urban sustainability, and climate resilience. Previously, he served as Purdue University's State Climatologist for Indiana and remains an Emeritus Professor there.
He holds a Ph.D. in Marine Earth & Atmospheric Sciences from North Carolina State University (2000). His technical expertise spans integrated urban systems modeling, energy use, emissions, and disaster mitigation strategies. Awards include the Helmut E. Landsberg Award (2023) and Indiana Governors Team Award (2018).
Research interests emphasize weather hazards (e.g., hurricanes, extreme heat), urban climate dynamics, and interdisciplinary solutions for climate adaptation. Over 300 peer-reviewed papers and two co-edited books highlight his contributions, with citations exceeding 28,000 (h-index 84).
Grants and collaborations include Planet Texas 2050 and Ethical AI initiatives. His work bridges academia and policy, addressing urban resilience and equitable climate solutions.
