Prof. Detlef Rahe is a Professor of 3D Design and Vice Rector for Networking and International Affairs at Bremen University of the Arts since December 2023. He holds a Dipl.-Des. FH and MFA in Industrial Design. His roles include leading the Master Studio Integrated Design and System+Interaction, alongside memberships in the Swedish Industrial Designers Association (SID), German Werkbund, and various juries.
- Education: Studied Product Design at Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Applied Sciences (1984–88), followed by postgraduate studies in Industrial Design at Gothenburg (1988–89).
- Prior roles: Head of Steinbeis Transfer Center Design (1989–98), Professor at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (1994–98), and Dean of its Design Department (1996–98).
Research interests focus on sustainable design, integrated systems, and urban design through initiatives like the INTERSPACE project exploring city concepts. He co-founded rahe.design (1989) and the i/i/d Institute for Integrated Design at HfK Bremen (1998–2021).
- Awards: Extensive design accolades including Red Dot, iF, and Saxon State Prizes.
