Dr. Desmond Goss is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at The George Washington University's Columbian College of Arts & Sciences. Their work focuses on critical analyses of power structures at the intersection of white supremacy, capitalism, and cisheteropatriarchy, aiming to sustain radically liberated communities.

Dr. Goss investigates the predictive value of race and Christian religiosity to homonegativity, critiques graduate examinations as gatekeeping mechanisms for hegemonic knowledge production, and explores the identificatory experiences of Black queer atheists in the southern U.S. 'Biblical panopticon.' Their research demonstrates a commitment to intersectional frameworks and abolitionist praxis.
Dr. Goss' publications and lectures intersect with themes of media power structures, gender/sexuality/race dynamics, and critical theory. Their work has been recognized with awards including the Huel D. Perkins Doctoral Diversity Fellowship and the Provost’s Dissertation Fellowship.
